Františkovy Lázně
An Empire spa of still parks and soft springs
All destinations
Founded in 1793, Františkovy Lázně is a town frozen in Empire neoclassicism, its low colonnades, pastel spa houses and flat grid of streets set inside a 250-hectare English-style park. Mineral springs, peat and natural carbon dioxide have drawn guests for more than two centuries, sipped in the Glauber Hall, the long trinkhalle where the waters are served. At the town's heart stands the little Statue of František, the healing boy who became its symbol and, by tradition, grants a wish to those who touch him. Serene, walkable and beautifully preserved, Franzensbad is the quietest chapter of the spa country.
